In 1958, Esso Club was the first and only place to sit and drink a bottle of beer in Clemson; it was formerly a small gas station in 1933.

Due to the increase in the number of people visiting the bar, the owners stopped serving gas and expanded the place. This saw here going through series of transformations in the 1980s.
