Magness Lake is a 30-acre privately owned oxbow lake located east of Heber Springs. It has become popular for being a wintering habitat for TrumSwans in the Southeast.

It is said that the first swans were seen in Arkansas because of the aftermath of a harsh storm that made them go southward. They have increased in population over the last 26 years and are currently over 100. Hunting swans is prohibited in Arkansas. 

Every year many Trumpeter Swans come to the lake from late November till the middle of February, together with lots of mallard duck, snow geese, and Canada geese, that migrate yearly to stay on the Magness Lake during winter.

The Magness Lake has a parking area at the lake’s viewing area where people can stay and watch these birds and feed them with shelled corn.
