Only around 1.5% of the nearly 300 acres where the fight was fought, or 4.8 acres, are occupied by it. It was the only significant battle to take place in Fairfax County.

The two memorials honoring Isaac Stevens and Philip Kearny, Union generals who died in the conflict, are the area’s most noticeable features.
