The Art Center has three galleries, a craft library, an auditorium, and the Allanstand Craft shop, the country’s oldest continually operated craft shop. This center also features the Eastern National Bookstore and Information Center.

Black Mountain Cider + Mead is a family-owned and operated business producing modern craft cider and mead using traditional techniques. 

They produce cider and mead from local apples and honey in a former furniture factory tucked in the Blue Ridge Mountain of Western NC. 

They ferment cider in tiny batches mixed from heirloom apples harvested throughout the season to produce authentic ciders that have not been tainted, filtered, or pasteurized. 

They concentrate on low-gravity seasonal mead, which is less tasty and more friendly than the conventional, higher-gravity mead. 

The method for this oldest beverage is infused with tradition but led by modern sensibilities, influencing them to mix local honey with flavors such as almond, coffee, sweet potato, pistachio, and beet to make unique craft drinks.

26. Round Mountain Creamery

Road Mountain Creamery is tucked in the forest of Black Mountain, NC. This 28-acre goat dairy and farmstead has produced flavorful soft cheese since 2002. 

They also offer goat cheeses, farm tours, and tasting on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. 

Tours are by appointment only, so you have to schedule before coming here. 

For an admission fee, you will watch how the goats are milked, and the soft cheese produced. 

After the tour, which ends at the farm store, you can try the cheese and purchase some to take home.
