The station was initially named after Moses Byrne, but it was renamed to prevent confusion that arose from Green River’s Bryon Station.

Piedmont Charcoal Kilns served as the site for helper engines. It has a water tank, roundhouse, telegraph office, and other business organizations.

Single-family sites with picnic tables and campfire rings are also available. A day-use picnic area is situated at the end of the campground road. 

Favorite recreational activities within 5 miles of Stillwater Campground include hiking, backpacking, fishing, and mountain biking. 

Three group camping sites can be reserved up to one year before your visit. The Campground is open from late May to Labor Day.
